Standard Numerical Identifier is established and printed on the product [SNI]
The SNI is recorded into a data base and passed forward
The data base becomes part of the track and trace and at each additional packing or distribution step a packing/pallet SNI is created and tied to product SNI creating a child/parent/grandparent relationship allow the product to be traced backward from end user to the original source of the product [pharmacy/wholesaler/manufacturer]
The SNI requires a unique [should be random] serial number for each product and the manufacturers NDC [also applies to repackers]

Many times the color of the laser mark can be controlled by changing power, and/or frequency, combined with the speed of the laser beam. In this case the UV laser settings are established to create a white mark on the white plastic similar to the posting noted above however the laser marking demonstrated here is outlined and much faster than the filled laser marking demonstrated in the previous blog noted above.
The outline laser marking is still highly readable for anyone interested consumers, or production staff controlling the product during manufacture, or for warranty and anti counterfeiting identification, however the outline nature of the laser marking makes it more subtle, as always all the advantages of the LP9000U UV series of lasers are present

The system has two U.V. lasers, two computers, two power supplies, and two chillers. It has an X slide in which you can put cylindrical objects, a rotary fixture option, and also an option where you can have fixtures far sequential marking along the X slide. This system has a ‘Power Puck’ which is located right here. When an operator starts the system the slide will move the ‘Power Puck’ underneath laser one, and laser one can fire on the ‘Power Puck’, and then the power of the laser get reported to the custom Worldwide Laser User Interface Software. When this power measurement is done the slide moves under laser two and again the ‘Power Puck’ is fired on and the power of the laser is again reported to the custom user interface.

The video demonstrates a laser system designed and built by the laser systems division of Worldwide Laser the laser system is designed with sensors to automatically adjust the z-access of the laser and place the laser head at the correct height for the product in the marking area, the laser marking area is protected with air curtains that will prevent the laser from firing if the air curtain is broken thereby providing the best possible protection to the laser operator. This system incorporates a software feature that allows the operator to scan a bar code located on the product traveler and open the correct marking file thus eliminating the possibility of human error when opening the marking file. This system also provides a password protected operator level access where the automatic Z access can be disabled and then manually controlled via up/down buttons.
