Laser Automation with the LP Dial Table systems

Worldwide Laser Service Corporation [WLSC] is pleased to introduce the latest addition to our Laser Automation systems, specifically the dial table laser systems the LPDIAL_02. This video demonstrates the highlights of the system.

The major features and functions of the dial table system demonstrated in this video are:

  • Four stops
    • Load
    • Lighting inspection
    • Cutting
    • Unload station
  • Wiring and interface controls for lighting system is present for future use
  • Wiring and interface for vision system [s] present for future use
  • Part pucks [holders for parts] are located with dowel pins and are easily interchangeable for different parts and configurations
  • Cut parts drop directly from laser cutting station onto a slide and into a collection bin
  • Light curtains at load and unload stations stop all system operations and disable the dial table preventing any potential damage to or danger for the operators/by standards.
  • Beam is completely enclosed to prevent focused laser light from reaching any operators or by standers – again assuring safety

  • Complete BOM
  • List of recommended spare parts
  • Factory Acceptance Tests [FAT] at WLSC facility prior to shipping
  • Site Acceptance Tests [SAT] with install assistance and training at customer facility after delivery
  • HMI [Human Machine Interface] with password protected maintenance and administrative screens for local system control and reporting of system operations statistics/results. Remote operation from factory host systems can also be implemented/
  • Full twelve month warranty from date of installation at customer location on all system components.

Laser Automation options with LPDIAL Systems

Dial tables are standard systems from WLSC. They can be used for laser cutting or marking operations. The system demonstrated for this article was used for laser cutting plastic, in a laser degate operation. LPDIAL table systems are also available with the other features and provide the ability to incorporate different facets of production into LPDIAL laser automation.

Examples of this include:

  • Testers for electronic components can be added to the dial table with results [positive meaning meets specification or negative meaning fails specification] the results can be passed to the laser.
    • If positive the Laser Automation marks the parts – parts number, or serial number, or electronic qualities, or some combination of all – and/or logo.
    • If negative or fail- the laser can be directed to mark the parts with XXX or some other clearly identifiable data showing the parts has failed inspection and optionally the laser automation can be equipped with the ability to remove the failed par and place it in a rejection bin.
  • Lighting stations can be added to highlight the part and make it easily available or viewable for quality control inspection
  • Machine vision systems can be added which can provide for:
    • Verification that the laser operation as take place as required and if any problems exist placing the part in rejection bin or stopping the system for an supervisor to check system operations.
    • Reading data already on the part or from a traveler or some other production paper that controls what marking or cutting is completed by the laser.
    • Verification of part in place and correct orientation prior to laser operations to assure a proper result.
  • Automatic removal of bad parts into a rejection bin
  • Manual loading and unloading of parts or automation of parts loading on offloading.
    • Robots for loading, unloading
    • Off-loading of completed parts in [or onto] a take away belt or conveyor
  • Communication with production systems for remote operations
    • Receipt of laser marking requirements from plant production systems
      • Number of parts to be marked or cut
      • Data and Details to be laser etched or laser marked on the parts
      • Location of cut or cuts for example with laser degate operations
      • Reporting of results to data bases for
        • Parts assembly details – adding components for a complete part assembly
        • Track and trace data bases to follow parts through the production cycle, or match parts being produced to e-commerce orders, or provide track and trace operations from point to manufacture to retail location and/or secondary plant location
        • Asset tracking for items distributed to office locations, various plant locations, or key components of larger-more complex operations such as oil drilling platforms.
